The Quality and Service Excellence Department promotes the vision of Christian Hospital. The scope of clinical quality includes, but is not limited to, on-going assessment of data to improve internal processes to enhance the quality of care provided to our patients, as a facility and from individual departmental levels. This assessment measures important hospital and departmental dimensions of performance as outlined by The Joint Commission (TJC) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Service Excellence promotes a culture based around customer support in an efficient, excellent, equitable and empowering manner. The Best-In-Class Scorecard, Emerging Trends Report Card, ORYX data reported through Quality Works and BJC Scores are the tools used to report quality and service measures.

Overview

Role Purpose

The Director of Patient Safety and Quality oversees all patient safety, quality improvement, accreditation and regulatory compliance initiatives. The DPSQ provides clinical, administrative and strategic oversight to DPSQ areas and personnel responsible for safety and quality. The DPSQ will ensure that Christian Hospital Quality initiatives incorporate and utilizes cutting-edge strategies and methods to improve all aspects of patient safety and quality, employing national guidelines, clinical standards and evidence-base practice in collaboration with BJC and national experts in safety and Quality. The DPSQ will oversee Medical Staff Office operations and support Medical Staff Leadership oversight of the Quality performance management of the Medical Staff. This position will oversee data management and analysis and actively collaborate with relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

Directs, coordinates and evaluates surveillance, prevention and control programs to improve patient safety and reduce risk to the patients and organization.

Develops and implements a framework for an integrated system-wide approach to Performance Improvement, Risk Management and Patient Safety.

Conducts hospital wide assessments of Performance Improvement and Patient Safety programs to identify needed changes and improvements.

Collaborates with the Patient Safety and Risk Manager and Acting Chief Medical Officer to oversee hospital-wide investigations related to patient harm, injury or near miss.

Collaborates with the Patient Safety and Quality Medical Director and the Performance Improvement Oversight Committee to participate in strategic and operational direction and leadership for the Best In Class scorecard.
