Overview

Role Purpose

Inpatient Coder I - Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes to Community Hospital Inpatient accounts using ICD-10 coding classification system in compliance with coding guidelines. Coding Specialist - Review and resolve coding related billing edits. Utilize ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT classifications in compliance with coding guidelines. Coding Specialist utilizes ICD-10 and CPT coding classifications systems to resolve billing edits.

Responsibilities
  • Performs accurate data entry by utilizing computerized abstracting system.
  • Meets production and quality standards for number of records coded and abstracted.
  • Adheres to established processes and procedures. Utilities coding resources.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision. Communicates timely and appropriately.
  • Coding Specialist only: Analyze and resolve coding related billing edits, Identifies appropriate department(s) to facilitate resolution of edits.
